The Coaching Kids Rugby course is a 3 hour face to face course targeted at coaches of junior players from U6 to U12. By attending the Coaching Kids Rugby Course, participants also achieve their Smart Rugby accreditation. The Coaching Kids Rugby Certificate is valid for 4 years, but Smart Rugby must be updated every 2 years.
The Coaching Kids Rugby course assists coaches in the teaching of rugby skills, and also teaches coaches group management skills which are vital in these age groups. The focus in these age groups is on fun in a safe training and playing environment. Latest statistics show that in the Junior levels of the game (U12 and below), there are just 6 injuries per 1,000 athletic exposures which illustrates the impact the Coaching Kids Rugby course, and the Smart Rugby program have had in injury reduction.
