ACT & SOUTHERN NSW CLUB RUGBY COMPETITIONS
Throughout ACT & Southern NSW there are six different Senior Club Rugby Union competitions and a number of Junior competitions that take place. These six competitions consist of: ACT Premier Division, First Division, South Coast Monaro – Second Division, ACT Women’s Division, Southern Inland Men’s and Southern Inland Women’s Divisions. Junior competitions are held in Southern Inland, South Coast, Monaro and ACT.
ACT PREMIER DIVISION:
The Premier Division has seven clubs participating with all competing in 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Colts. The 7 Premier Clubs are Canberra Royals, Eastern Suburbs, Gungahlin Eagles, Queanbeyan Whites, Tuggeranong Vikings, Uni-Norths Owls & Western District Lions.
The First Division competition combines the Premier Division 3rd and 4th grade sides and the Monaro Division 1st and 2nd grade sides. As a result, the First Division consists of 12 clubs, from within Canberra and its surrounding regions. These twelve teams are Canberra Royals, Eastern Suburbs/RMC, Gungahlin Eagles, Queanbeyan Whites, Tuggeranong Vikings, Uni-Norths Owls, Western District Lions, Goulburn Dirty Reds, Hall Bushrangers, Cooma Red Devils, ADFA and Young Yabbies.
SOUTH COAST MONARO – SECOND DIVISION:
The South Coast Monaro – 2nd Division competition is made up of 9 teams from Canberra, the South Coast. This is the fourth year this competition will take place under this format across an 18 round home and away series. Previously the Monaro 2nd Division and South Coast were two separate competitions.
There are 5 teams from Canberra and nearby areas competing in the Women’s Competition. These teams are Canberra Royals, Tuggeranong Vikings, Gungahlin Eagles, Uni Norths Owls, and ADFA.
SOUTHERN INLAND MEN’S DIVISION:
Southern Inland Rugby Union is one the largest geographical zones in NSW. It includes the following clubs; Griffith, Wagga Waratahs, Wagga Ag College, CSU Reddies, Wagga City, Leeton, Albury, Tumut.
SOUTHERN INLAND WOMEN’S DIVISION:
Southern Inland Rugby Union introduced a Women’s 7’s competition in 2013. Due to overwhelming success it has continued. The competition comprises of the following teams; Griffith, Leeton, Wagga City, Tumut, CSU, Albury, Wagga Waratahs and Wagga Ag College.
ACT & SNSW JUNIORS:
There are a number of Junior competitions including clubs and school run throughout our catchment areas, these include teams from Southern Inland, Monaro, South Coast and ACT. Players can start as young as five years of age and continue until under 18’s.
ACT JRU GIRLS:
The ACT JRU Girls 10’s competition caters for girls aged between u13 to U17. Teams are comprised from ACT, Monaro and South Coast region
ACT VETERANS RUGBY:
ACT Veterans rugby is for players over the age of 35 who still wish to play a friend game of rugby every now and then. Vets Rugby have aligned themselves with a number of charities and continue to support these charities through annual events.
