ARU Community Rugby Website

The ARU’s Community Rugby website provides information for the following aspects of the rugby union;

  1. Running Rugby

The Running Rugby Program is specifically designed for Rugby club administrators and volunteers to assist with the administrative and operational side of running a Rugby club.

  1. Policy register

ARU policies and procedures relating to areas such as; Code of Conduct, Safety Policy, Participation Policy (age grade and senior dispensations), Concussion Policy, Safe Practices, Governance, Inclusive Environments, Anti-doping, Administration and Member Protection.

  1. Registration

All Rugby clubs are responsible for the registration of their players and non-playing members, which is a necessity for coverage under the ARU National Insurance Scheme.

  1. Insurance & Serious Injuries

The Australian Rugby Union has arranged the ARU Sports Injury and Liability Insurance Plan on behalf of our Member Unions, their Affiliate Unions, Clubs and Referee Associations. All participants (Players, Coaches, Officials) must be registered with the ARU in order to obtain coverage under the plan.  Click here for the ARU insurance plan.

  1. Sanctioned events & entity teams

Event sanctioning ensures that all rugby union events, tournaments and matches played in Australia are conducted in a safe and professional manner, and comply with the respective World Rugby Laws of the Game & Regulations, and Australian Rugby Union (ARU) Law Variations, Registration Regulations and By-Laws & Policies. All Rugby Union events, tournaments, and matches conducted outside regular approved competitions and/or other representative matches/programs must receive formal sanctioning approval
