Brumbies Rugby usually hold 4 Foundation Courses in the ACT and Southern NSW annually. The Foundation Coaching Course is a one day coaching course which covers a number of key modules regarding the game. The day consists of both classroom and field based sessions covering topics such as Laws, Player Welfare, Game Elements, Attack, Defence, Tackle Contest, Set Piece, Coaching in Practise and the Coaching Process.
Whilst the course is targeted at coaches of Teenage rugby (U13-U18), there is also benefit for caches at a Senior Level, and every coach that completes the course can then progress through to gain their Level 1 accreditation. By sitting the Foundation Course, coaches also get (or renew) their Smart Rugby accreditation.
LEVEL 1 ACCREDITATION
To gain ARU Level 1 accreditation coaches will need to;
- Complete a Foundation Course
- Pass a Level 1 Law and Safety exam
- Complete a Self-Reflection form
- Complete 60 hours of session plans in a Coaching Diary
- Complete a Coach Assessment with a coach educator
