Smart Rugby is the Australian Rugby Union’s mandatory accreditation requirement for all coaches and referees of tackle variants of the game of rugby union. In an exciting development for 2019, the Smart Rugby program can now be completed entirely online, whether you are completing the course for the first time, or are reaccrediting your Smart Rugby qualification. This also allows coaches to complete the course in their own time.
The Smart Rugby program focuses on safe practices in the game and has been a major contributor to the reduction of injuries in the modern game. Latest statistics show that in the Junior levels of the game now (U12 and below), there are just 6 injuries per 1,000 athletic exposures to further illustrate the impact Smart Rugby has had in injury reduction. The Smart Rugby accreditation lasts 2 years.
To complete the Smart Rugby program, you will need to login to the ARU Learning Centre which can be found at the following link – https://rugby.force.com/rugbyportal//
